Training program

Skill training and capacity building form the core of CTRD's work. Programmes span theoretical orientation, hands-on practical training, and field-based application, tailored to the agriculture and allied sectors as well as construction, logistics, IT/retail, instrumentation, and iron & steel.

Signature Training Methodology

CTRD's flagship Entrepreneurship & Marketing Chain Development programme (with WBSAMB) uses a proven three-phase, three-month model:

  • Phase 1 – Theory (5 weeks): Market-led production, post-harvest management & value addition, computer applications in agriculture and agri-marketing.
  • Phase 2 – Practical (4 weeks): Hands-on training and exposure visits.
  • Phase 3 – Field & Application (4+ weeks): Group formation, bankable project development, handholding by CTRD, and monitoring & feedback with the funding agency.

This methodology has helped promote 55 Self-Help Groups/Farmer Interest Groups (814 farm youths), with three FIGs graduating into full FPOs.

Key Training Verticals

  • Formation & capacity building of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and Cluster-Based Business Organisations (CBBOs).
  • Trade-specific skill training under ICMARD empanelment — bamboo craft, sal leaf crockery, agarbati/pickle/jam/bakery production, poultry & backyard poultry, dairy & milk production, dragon fruit farming, integrated farming systems, sericulture, organic farming, vermicompost production, mushroom cultivation, ornamental fishery, and entrepreneurship development, among others.
  • PMKVY / PMKVY 4.0 and RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) skill-based training.
  • Sector Skill Council-aligned courses (e.g., Assistant Electrician, Warehouse Executive, Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing) under NUA Odisha.
  • Farmer mobilisation, training and awareness programmes (e.g., value addition of banana pseudo-stem).
  • Dry-flower crafts training for artisan SHGs.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) capacity building linked to funded livelihood projects.

Reach

Illustrative, not exhaustive — CTRD has trained cohorts ranging from a handful of pilot batches to programmes covering 2,000+ beneficiaries per scheme (e.g., 800 trainees under PMKVY 4.0 West Bengal 2025-26; 2,000 under NIELIT's SDUY initiative across four districts).
